Revised ASTC Performance Award Qualifications

ASTC Agility and Obedience Awards
[effective Jan. 1, 2016 for retroactively applied awards]

The following Agility and Obedience and Rally Awards are given in the form of a certificate or plaque to members in good standing of ASTC

I. AGILITY
(Based on AKC’s Top Dogs Agility Report)
Top-ranked Shih Tzu in Agility Plaque
Top-Ranked Shih Tzu in Preferred Agility Plaque
Jade Dragon Award – Sponsored by Phyllis Celmer   Given to any Shih Tzu earning a (first) MACH title.

II. OBEDIENCE/RALLY

OBEDIENCE AWARDS
Top Obedience Shih Tzu Plaque Highest scores are the top 3 for the title earned in the award year or the top 3 scores for the award year. This is to include the dogs working beyond UD or PUD.

Any Shih Tzu that earns the OTCH title Plaque

RALLY AWARDS
Dogs accumulate points according to the following schedule, based on the dog’s qualifying score in rally obedience, regardless of the class entered:
98-100 = 10 points
97-95 = 9 points
94-92 = 8 points
91-89 = 7 points
88-85 = 6 points
84-82 = 5 points
81-79 = 4 points
78-76 = 3 points
75-73 = 2 points
72-70 = 1 point

High Scoring Rally Award Plaque
Highest scores are the top 3 for the title earned in the award year or the top 3 scores for the award year. This is to include dogs working above the RE level.

Rally Advanced Excellent (RAE) Shih Tzu Plaque
Awarded to Shih Tzu earning their first RAE title.

III. OTHER AWARDS

PERFORMANCE HALL OF FAME ACHIEVEMENT
A. Developed to recognize Shih Tzu who have attained the highest degrees in AKC-recognized performance events.

B. Criteria – earning a total of 100 points, based on the following point schedule:

*Note: On titles that can be earned multiple times (ex. MACH, MACH2), points will be accumulated for each time the title is earned.

C. In addition, the owner of the dog must be a member of ASTC at the time the dog completes the requirements. The award is retroactive to the formation date of the club, but is only available to a dog whose owner was a member of ASTC at the time the dog would have completed the requirements, and is a member at the time the application for the award is submitted.

D. Only awarded once in a dog’s lifetime.

E. When counting points in obedience and agility must be either regular or preferred titles not a combination of the two.

VERSATILITY AWARD Plaque

A. Awarded to a Shih Tzu that is a conformation champion and achieves any obedience title, agility title, tracking title, or rally title.

B. Only awarded once in a dog’s lifetime.

VERSATILITY EXCELLENT AWARD Plaque
A. Awarded to a Shih Tzu that has any championship (CH, MACH, OTCH, PACH, CT) and achieves titles in two other events (other than what the championship is in), including conformation, obedience, agility, tracking and rally obedience. Award not to be retroactive.

B. Only awarded once in a dog’s lifetime.

MASTER OF VERSATILITY AWARD Plaque
Awarded to a Shih Tzu that has earned 2 championships: CH, MACH, PACH, OTCH, POC, CT
Award to be retroactive
Awarded only once in a dog’s lifetime

HIGH IN TRIAL Plaque
Given to any Shih Tzu that achieves High in Trial at an AKC all breed obedience trial.

SAWYER AWARD – Sponsored by Beth Scorzelli
In Memory of Scorzelli’s Sassy Sawyer UD MX AXP AXJ MJP RE
Awarded to a dog that has earned advanced titles in obedience and agility. Must have at least an AKC CDX AND any ONE or more of the following agility titles: MX MXJ MXP MJP MACH PAX
To be awarded once in a dog's lifetime.

“High Scoring Agility Awards” will be calculated by the ASTC awards committee. All others above, the owner/club member must apply for by January 15th of the year following the calendar year when the award was earned with performance awards chairman. Obedience and Rally qualifying dates and scores should also be submitted to the awards chairman by January 15th of the award year.
